Are you in high school, but you feel that you can make a difference? Do you want to meet new people? Are you passionate about your community? If you are, then you should involve yourself in high school community services.
Not many emphasize this. But joining a great community project with a fantastic cause will also help you. It will teach you how to be responsible, understanding, and compassionate. You’ll also have a chance to interact with different personalities and develop great friendships.
If you want to get involved in high school community services, here’s how you should do it:
The first Step is finding a cause that interests you.
This step isn’t all that stressful. You can easily find something that you can be part of.
Help Others With Your Skills
Perhaps your hobby is knitting or sewing garments or blankets. In your spare time, knit and sew as many items as possible. Donate these items to those in need in your community or through charitable organizations.
You may be good and gifted in a certain subject or even several. You can volunteer to help others that are having a hard time through peer tutoring if it is available in your school. If not, tutor individuals on a face to face level outside of school. Another option is online tutoring.
If you good in a certain sport, volunteer to help out a local youth or children’s team with coaching lessons.
Donate and Volunteer in Organizations
Some communities have food banks. Spare a few coins and donate some non-perishables. While dropping these off, inquire if you can volunteer.
Maybe it’s time to clean out your closet. Get clothing items you do not need anymore but are still in a good state. The next step is to take these items to a local shelter. Perhaps your high school collects different items for needy students; you can also take them there. If the school or shelter needs additional help such as distribution or sorting of different donations, you can offer to volunteer.

There are many places that are in need of children’s toys either new or used but still in good shape. These could be foster homes, fire departments, and even hospitals. All you need to do is enquire what they need or prefer. You can then donate whatever you are okay with and go an extra mile of asking them if they are in need of volunteers to play and interact with the children.
Offer Your Time
At the senior center, offer to visit and spend time with the elderly playing games or even teaching them basic computer skills.
During your birthday, instead of getting gifts, invite your loved ones and friends to donate in cash or kind to a given charity. These charities need volunteers. You can offer to become one as well.
Find out if there is a neighbor in need in your local area. As they say, charity begins at home. Offer to walk your neighbor’s dog, mow their lawns, tend to their fences or even rake leaves in their yard.
There could be a non-profit organization in your area. In your free time, volunteer to create as well as manage social media platforms for them such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
You see, there are many ways to be part of high school community services.
